Da Costa Santos wins the WSOPE Event 6

Just a few short weeks ago, Francisco Da Costa Santos came third in a €1,000 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) side event, where he cashed for €11,520; his biggest in a four-year poker career.

That was the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona and that is ancient history. This month is all about the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE), and Santos has continued his spurt of enthused poker pillaging by taking down Event
#6 €1,650 Six-Handed PLO.

206-players started the event that last year provided a bracelet for the Canadian Phillipe Boucher. Boucher had to get through
338-opponents to win that sliver of gold in 2011, but the road that Santos had to take was no less perilous.

With such short fields, the player numbers in the WSOPE are being cut down quickly. Only 26-players made it through Day 1,
and WSOP bracelet holder David Benyamine was just behind the chip leader, Jacob Dahl, at the top of the counts.

Also in the top half of the field were Ana Marquez, Dan Smith, John Eames, and Santos himself.

Day 2 saw the field whittled down to a final table of five. The beauty of Ana Marquez and skill of the Global Poker Index (GPI)
top ten-ranked Lichtenberger was all anyone was talking about on the Poker websites.

But, in the end, the final heads-up came down between the old enemies, Portugal and Spain: Santos v Marquez.
The heads-up action only lasted a few hands before Santos flopped a straight to take the bracelet and €83,275 in prize
money back to Portugal.
