Rakeback - What is it?
Rakeback is an essential tool for your online poker success. A good poker player is always looking for an edge. The edge the best rakeback offers provides is one no player should pass up.
What Is Rakeback?
To understand rakeback you first need to understand rake. Rake is the way the sites make money with poker. Since online poker is not against the House, the House has no stake in who wins or loses.
To make it worth their while, the House takes a percentage out of each pot, called “the rake.” This percentage is no more than 10 percent of the pot and usually no more than $4.00. Every time you play a pot you are contributing to the rake. With rakeback, you get some of that money back.
How Does Rakeback Work?
You get rakeback through a rakeback site. A rakeback site is an affiliate whose job it is to direct traffic and get customers for online poker sites. Every time the rakeback site signs up a new player, they get paid. The site passes some of that money on to you in the form of rakeback.
What Do You Have to Do to Get Rakeback?
All you have to do to get rakeback is sign up with a new poker site through the rakeback affiliate. If you have already signed up with the site, you cannot get rakeback. If not, look through the options and see which rakeback program you like the best.
Most programs offer between 20 and 30 percent rakeback. The more popular the site, the less rakeback you are likely to get. Once you’ve signed up through the rakeback site, you’re pretty much done.
The amount of rake you end up paying each month is applied to the stated percentage. You’ll then see that percentage refunded to your poker account at the end of each month. If you pay $100 a month in rakeback and have a 30 percent rakeback program, an extra $30 goes into your account each month. That’s all there is to it.
